The metro has been facing water challenges in recent weeks.

While this is slowly improving, the city has laid the blame on Rand Water, even though the utility denied the allegations earlier this week.

"Since December last year almost every month we have this recurring event of water being shut down to the City of Tshwane, and we are not the only one affected, with either no notice or short notice,” says Brink.

“The indication is that there is something wrong at Rand Water,” he insists.

“We base this on the fact that when we try to ask for information for Rand Water to share their water levels and notify us in advance of maintenance issues, that is just ignored.”

Brink said on Friday that the city’s debt with Rand Water is not the cause of the problems.

" I have written to the chairperson of the board. I have copied the minister of Water. I want the Tshwane residents to know about this issue because it is going to be a recurrence."

Tshwane owes the water entity over R600 million for unpaid services.
