Tshwane Metro cop among 23 arrested for CIT heists

Dozens of suspects have been nabbed for the recent spate of cash-in-transit heists across the country.
An intelligence driven operation led to the arrest of 23 suspects for cash-in-transit heists.
A Tshwane Metro Police Department officer (TMPD) and her boyfriend are among those arrested.
According to national police spokesperson, Vishnu Naidoo, the pair is alleged to have stored weapons used during two heists in Boksburg in May.
They were also linked to several robberies.

Naidoo says various weapons, ammunition and vehicles, that were either used in the heist or bought from heist money, were confiscated.
A 42-year-old illegal immigrant was also arrested at a residential estate in Wonderboom.
"The suspect was found in possession of explosives including detonators and blasting cartridges. He has also been linked to the May Boksburg CIT heist."
Police also managed to arrest two women and a man for the 'warzone' heist in Atlas Road last week.
"The team also recovered one x R5 rifle, one x LM5 and over one hundred rounds of ammunition."
