Tshwane metro police monitors possible new hijacking trend in Centurion

Tshwane metro police say they will be monitoring N1 near the Jean Avenue Bridge in Centurion following an apparent attempted hijacking.

Centurion resident Schalk Jacobz posted on social media that he escaped a hijacking on the N1 on Wednesday.
Jacobz said he was driving home when his car was covered with cement.

He pulled to the side of the highway, where he noticed about seven men in the nearby bushes approaching him.
He sped off shortly after.
Metro police spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says Jacobz reported the attempted hijacking to the police.
"We received information about a possible hijacking that is happening at N1 at Jean Avenue Bridge in Centurion.

"What we are going to do as the TMPD, we have already deployed our members to monitor the area."
Mahamba urged motorists to be vigilant when driving in the area.
