The City of Tshwane says the water levels at several of its reservoirs were still recovering on Friday afternoon after a power outage at Rand Water’s Zuikerbosch treatment plant.
Tshwane Water spokesperson Lindela Mashigo says power failure began on Wednesday.
“The City of Tshwane received a notification from Rand Water about a power failure at it’s Zuickerbosch Water Treatment Plant that affected it’s Engine Four, which supplies which supplies its booster stations.
“The said incident caused the reduction of water levels to Mapleton, Eikenhof, Zwartkop, and Palmiet Booster Stations, which resulted in the depletion of the following Rand Water reservoirs: Klipriviersberg 1 and 2, Klipfontein 1 and 2, Brakfontein, Germiston, Northridge, Airfield, Haartebeeshoek, Meredale 1 and 2, Waterval 1 and 2.”
Mashigo says the reservoirs are still recovering.
“The following areas are affected by the low operating pressure at the Kosmosdal meter: Parts of Olievenhoutbosch, Thatchfield and Rua Vista high lying areas.”
