Tshwane suspends all bus services after trucks torched
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The City of Tshwane has suspended all its bus services after four trucks were torched on Wednesday, allegedly by striking municipal workers.
The suspension affects the Tshwane Bus and A reyeng bus operating in the city.
Officials say some of their buses have been pelted with stones and objects during operations.
This comes as the city struggles to find a solution to the unprotected strike by workers affiliated with the South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu).
The seven-week-long labour dispute is linked to a dispute over salary increases.
City spokesperson, Selby Bokaba has urged commuters to find alternative means of transport.
"The city would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused,” he says.
“Commuters will be kept up to date about bus operations and developments."
