Tshwane vows zero tolerance for land invasions
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
The City of Tshwane has vowed a zero-tolerance approach for land invasions.
This follows the arrest of four people for allegedly selling plots on suspected city-owned land in Kameeldrift.
The Tshwane metro police received a tip-off from members of the local community and arrested the four suspects on Monday.
“During the removal operation, TMPD removed three complete structures and hundreds of poles which would be used to construct more illegal structures. TMPD also arrested four people for impersonating city officials,” said Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink.
“The group was also charged with fraud as they claimed that they were acting on instructions to register individuals and sell the stands.”
The suspects have been detained at Moot Police Station.
