Tshwane warns higher water restrictions mean higher water bills
Updated | By Emile Pienaar
The City of Tshwane is currently implementing level 1 of water restrictions due to excessive water use and demand, but the City warns if water is not conserved it will implement more strict levels of water restrictions.
The City says residents are currently using about 800 million litres of water from Rand Water, which is 18% more than Tshwane’s license agreement.
According to a statement released by the City of Tshwane, current water use could result in the municipal system running dry and collapsing.
Tshwane has published the current water prices, showing how the cost for water increases under different restriction levels.
