Last month, workers affiliated with Nehawu had been striking for a 7% wage increase while the university was only offering a 4% increase.
Following constructive engagements between University management and organised labour, an agreement was reached.
Tuks spokesperson Rikus Delpoort says the agreement, was reached through collaborative efforts, entailing an across-the-board salary increase of 5.1% on basic salary and a once-off payment of R1,200 for the year."
"While celebrating this positive outcome, the University underscores its unwavering commitment to financial sustainability amidst prevailing economic challenges and constraints faced by the sector and the institution. It
is imperative to continue to avoid further strain on already limited resources."
