Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching, Learning and Technology, Prof Stanley Mukhola, says there were disruptions at the Soshanguve campuses yesterday.

The situation has been contained and the police removed the protesters from campus.

"Letters of suspension have been served on four protesting students, who contravened TUT Rules and Regulations as well as the Interim Court Interdict obtained on 13 October 2016," says TUT spokesperson Willa de Ruyter.

De Ruyter says a number of arrangements have been put in place to ensure that all students have the opportunity to complete the 2016 academic year without disruption:

- A decision was taken that Soshanguve students will write the main exams, as well as the re-exams for 2016, at the Tshwane Events Centre. Residence and day students residing in Soshanguve will be provided with transport to and from the examination venue.

- Computer-based exams for ICT students will take place at the campuses at which the programmes are offered, namely the Soshanguve South, eMalahleni and Polokwane Campuses.

- Pretoria, Arts and Arcadia Campus students will also write their main examinations at the Tshwane Events Centre and bus transport will be provided for these students as well.

- Ga-Rankuwa Campus students will write on campus and at the Grace Bible Church. Transport will be provided to and from this examination venue.

- Students will have to produce a student card and personalised final exam timetable before they will be allowed to utilise the transport provided.

- Pretoria, Arts and Arcadia students are advised to collect their timetables before Friday, 18 November 2016. Soshanguve students may collect their timetables until Sunday, 20 November 2016.

- Security measures at all the University's campuses, including the distant campuses in eMalahleni, Mbombela and Polokwane, will be reinforced and the SAPS have been engaged to remain on standby during the examination period.
