TUT final exams will resume as scheduled
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Management at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) has confirmed that final year examinations will start on 12 November, despite the indefinite suspension of activities at its Soshanguve campuses.
This comes after a spate of violent protest at the north and south campuses in Soshanguve.
In September, a student was allegedly fatally shot by police during protests against the SRC election results.
TUT spokesperson, Willa de Ruyter, says the decision to suspend activities was taken to protect the safety of students and staff.
"On Monday we requested students to vacate their residences for their own safety," says De Ruyter.
De Ruyter says students should use this time of no academic activities to prepare for upcoming exams.
