Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of three family members at their farm in Bishopstowe in Pietermaritzburg.
Fifty-eight-year-old Daniel de Bruin, his 60-year-old wife Glynis and their 84-year-old relative Collin de Bruin were found stabbed to death at their home on Monday.
The suspects, aged 27 and 35, were arrested at Swapo informal settlement in Copesville on Tuesday morning.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Thembeka Mbele says the two suspects were unhappy with their employer’s decision to close the farm.
“Yesterday, the suspects arrived at the farmer’s tuck shop, which is situated inside the premises, and found the deceased son, bought chips and passed some remarks.
"Later in the afternoon, the deceased’s son was called by another farmer informing him that his father’s farm was on fire.”
The suspects are expected to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday facing charges of murder.
