Two dead after car crashes into tree
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Two men were killed and four others, including a 3-year-old child, were injured, when a car crashed into a tree along the N4 outside Rustenburg on Sunday.
Upon arrival at the scene of the accident, paramedics found the bodies of a woman and child lying outside the vehicle, while three men and a woman were inside the car.
"Paramedics assessed the patients and found that two men, both seated in the front of the vehicle, lay trapped and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead," said ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring.
"In the rear of the vehicle, a man and woman lay trapped in a critical condition while the woman and child outside the vehicle lay in a critical condition as well".
"Rescue services utilized various rescue tools to free the two trapped from the vehicle, an operation lasting over an hour".
"Once freed, paramedics treated the four patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions. The critically injured man was airlifted to a nearby hospital, while the remaining three patients were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment", said Meiring.
Authorities are investigating the exact details surrounding the cause of the incident.
