A 16-year-old high school learner has died after being attacked and stabbed by fellow learners at Hillcrest Secondary School in Mossel Bay in the Southern Cape.
Police spokesperson, Malcolm Pojie, says the male learner was attacked by the three other learners during the first break at school on Monday morning.
He says the pupil sustained multiple stab wounds to his upper body and was rushed to hospital, where he late died.
"He sustained multiple stab wounds on his upper body, which probably lead to his death. He was declared dead on arrival at hospital after being treated and also transported by paramedics,” says Pojie.

The suspects - believed to be in grades 10 to 12 at the same school - fled the scene, but were later apprehended.
"Subsequent to the incident just before 20:00 last night, members of the investigating team managed to arrest the third suspect in connection with the death of the learner," adds Pojie.
The suspects have been charged with murder and will appear before the Mossel Bay Magistrates’ Court soon.
The motive for the murder is not yet known.
At the same time yesterday, a learner was also stabbed to death with a pair of scissors at Thuto Tiro Comprehensive school at Zone10 in Sebokeng in Gauteng.
