Two guards injured in Pretoria cash-in-transit heist
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Two security officers are recovering in hospital after they were injured during a cash-in-transit in Pretoria on Monday.
An unknown number of armed suspects targeted the cash van on Watermeyer and Rossouw Streets near the N4, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
Emer-G-Med paramedics spokesperson Kyle Van Reenen says the road had to be closed to allow emergency services to clear the scene.
"A number of armed suspects intercepted a cash in transit armoured vehicle, before blowing it up.
"Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene to find the carcass of the armoured vehicle occupying the width of the roadway.
"Two security officers sustained moderate injuries and were treated and stabilised on scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care."
