National police spokesperson Vishnu Naidoo says a group of armed suspects attacked a cash-in-transit vehicle between Mahikeng and Lichtenberg. "The suspects used explosives to gain access to the cash, but before actually removing the cash from the CIT vehicle, members from the Hawks and the National Intervention Unit responded.
Hawks head Godfrey Lebeya says the unit will leave no stone unturned in the search for the remaining suspects.
“We shall hunt the members of that organised criminal group that attacked the cash-in-transit vehicle and caused the death of our members.”
