ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring says the motorbike crashed into the pedestrian.

"Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the body of the pedestrian, a man believed to be 30 years old, lying in the middle of the road. We found that he had sustained significant fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead on scene," says Meiring.

He says the driver of the motorbike, who is also believed to be in his 30s, was found in the middle of the road - a few meters from his motorbike.

"Paramedics assessed the biker and found that his vital signs were rapidly diminishing. CPR and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated in an effort to stabilise his vital signs. Unfortunately, after 40 minutes, no vital signs returned and he was declared dead," says Meiring.
