Spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker said the KwaDukuza Cluster task team arrested a 42-year-old man and a 53-year-old women in the early hours of the morning.
“Detectives are on the trail of the outstanding suspects,” he said in a statement.
Peter Johnson, 56, was killed whilst his brother Ian, 54, was injured after the armed robbery on their farm on Tuesday when unknown gunmen armed with assault rifles entered the farm and opened fire on both men, Naicker said at the time.
“The farmers brother died on the scene and the farmer was injured and taken to hospital,” said Naicker in a statement.
The suspects stole two rifles from the premises before fleeing, he said.
On Friday, KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni said this was a breakthrough in the case. “This is the crucial breakthrough that we have been waiting for and it is just a matter of time before the outstanding suspects can be apprehended,” she said. -ANA
