Two security officers shot and killed in Soweto

Two security officers have been killed in separate shootings in Soweto.
Both men were killed by a gang of suspected robbers in White City on Monday.
Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Sello says during the first incident a security guard was shot at a local butchery while he was busy closing the shop.
Another security officer was shot a few meters from the scene.

“It is reported that one security officer was on guard duty at a local butchery in White City, Soweto whilst it was closing when he was suddenly approached by five unknown men who shot and disarmed him before fleeing the scene on foot.
"Few meters away from the scene, the suspects met another security officer who was returning from work and they also shot him. The second victim did not have any firearm. Both victims were declared dead at the scene.
“The suspects are unknown at this stage and police will be investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting incidents.”
