Two suspects nabbed for cop killing
Two suspects have been arrested after an on-duty police officer was shot and killed in Vosloorus last night.
Police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini says the officer was killed while on a routine patrol.
“Police officers who were on their routine patrols spotted a suspicious vehicle which was fitted with false registration numbers. When they approached the vehicle, one of three suspects jumped out and opened fire on them,” says Dlamini.
He says the officer was declared dead on the scene.

“The officer was shot in the upper body and died on the scene. Police fired shots at one of the suspects, but he managed to flee on foot,” says Dlamini.
An R5 rifle, a bag of ammunition and a suspected stolen vehicle were seized.
Dlamini says they believe a third suspect, who managed to flee, could be one of eight suspects who escaped from the Johannesburg Magistrates Court in May
