Two toddlers have died in a shack fire in Ekurhuleni with a third child seriously injured.
According to the City of Ekurhuleni's William Ntladi, community members alerted emergency services to the blaze on Saturday morning.
"They found the community frantically trying to extinguish the blaze," says Ntladi.
The bodies of the 2-year-old and 4-year-old children were found in what remained of the shack.
Their 8-year-old sibling sustained serious burns to his face and body.

Ntladi says it is alleged that the children's mother left them alone at home.
"The community had to go and look for the mother who was found in one of the shebeens nearby and she was heavily under (the influence of) intoxicating substances," he says.
He says the mother subsequently disappeared from the scene and authorities are investigating the case.
