Two traffic officers killed in separate incidents in Mpumalanga

Police in Mpumalanga are searching for an unknown truck driver who hit a traffic officer on the N4 near Komatipoort on Sunday morning.

The 58-year-old officer, who was on duty at the time, was killed during the incident.
A spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety in the province, Moeti Mmusi, says the provincial government is concerned about the number of trucks hitting traffic officers.
Mmusi says the police are hunting for the suspect.
"The traffic officer was killed while on duty along the N4 toll road near Komatipoort on Sunday morning.
"It is alleged that the truck driver failed to stop at the scene.”
In a separate incident, a 52-year-old traffic officer also lost his life after he was hit by a truck while working on the N2 near Mkhondo.
