UJ concerned over initiation practices
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Instances of initiation practices have been reported at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
UJ spokesperson Kaamini Reddy this is not in accordance with university policy.
"We have a zero tolerance approach to any of these kinds of instances," says Reddy.
Senior students allegedly initiated first year students at a residence at the university.
Reddy says they have met with first year students to inform them about their rights.
"They need not adhere to any of these initiation practices that are being called by the seniors," says Reddy.
Reddy says seniors who are found guilty of initiating first year students will be expelled from the residence and could be expelled from the university.
