Unhappy police reservists take to the streets of Tshwane
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Police reservists will take to the streets of Tshwane on Tuesday to protest against what they believe to be empty promises over employment.
Spokesperson Tendo Mulaudzi says promises of absorption into the South African Police Service have been made since 2009.
“We need (Police Minister) Bheki Cele to intervene on our concern as the management of the SAPS hasfailed us several times. We tried from our stations, provincial, up until now at national level.

“SAPS was not fair to us because they trained us and failed to employ us. We went through all SAPSprocesses and they still failed us. We tried to negotiate with them but they refused to attend to us. They employed us as the reservist but when good things came they deactivated us from the system.”
Mulaudzi says they also cannot apply for social grants or RDP houses.
“We did not even receive a social grant because the system says we are already employed. We don’t even qualify RDP houses. We are still having SAPS uniforms, but they said we are not members."
