Earlier in the month, the department confirmed that 41 suspects had been arrested for cases relating to the burglaries and the torching of schools.

The department’s spokesperson Steve Mabona says another five suspects have been arrested for separate burglaries at schools in Katlehong and Sebokeng.

Two suspects were found in possession of suspected stolen property following a school burglary in Katlehong.

“Another report received yesterday confirmed the arrest of two suspects who were also found in possession of suspected stolen property linked to a break-in at Botebotsebo Secondary School in Zone 14, Sebokeng.

“The third suspect was arrested inside the school premises. Allegedly the suspect gained entry to one of the classrooms by breaking a window and then made a fire inside the classroom which burned the tiles and chairs.”
