Employees at the renowned Sakhumzi Restaurant in Vilakazi Street in Soweto has expressed concern at what they say is a major increase in crime in the area.
Police launched a manhunt for several suspects after the manager of Sakhumzi was shot and killed during a botched robbery the past weekend.

He died on the scene.
The restaurant is popular with local and international tourists, and situated on the only street in the world which once housed two Nobel Peace Prize winners.

Sakhumzi spokesperson, Archie Tsoka says this is not the first robbery on Vilakazi Street.
"It is probably around the 5th incident so we hope that some security measures will be implemented without intruding on the freedom of our customers," he says.
Police spokesperson Kay Makhubela is appealing to restaurant owners to work with authorities to curb crime.
"They must have numbers of their sector police should anything happen because the sector vehicle is always on the move and can come to the aid of anyone at any time," Makhubela says.
