Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
The Gauteng Department of Health has imposed immediate restrictions to visiting hours at health facilities across the province.
The restrictions come after the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic was also declared a national disaster by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday.
Spokesperson for the department, Kwara Kekana, says visiting hours will be restricted to one hour per day between 12:00 and 13:00.
Kekana says patients will only be allowed a maximum of two visitors per day.

"Only one visitor per patient will be allowed at a time for no more than 15 minutes. There will be no rotation of visitors.
"No visitors will be allowed outside of the specified visiting hours," Kekana says.
She adds that any visitors outside the prescribed time will have to make arrangements with and get approval by the attending doctor.
