Ernest Mabaso and Fita Khupe are playing the blame game following the horrific killings of seven family members in the south of Johannesburg.

Mabaso and Khupe face seven counts of premeditated murder while Mabaso is also on trial on three rape charges.

“The second applicant called me and asked if I had completed the job I was given to do,” said Mabaso’s legal representative William Segatja during bail proceedings.

Segatja says he’s client was forced to commit to kill the Khoza family.

Emotions ran high in the court’s gallery as more details emerged.

In early November, seven bodies - four children and three women - were found buried under heaps of sand in two separate rooms in their home.

“He then asked me if I had raped before killing them, and I agree even though I knew I had never raped them. I fetch the two kids and on arrival the second applicant instructed me to rape the kids in his presence before killings them.”

The state is opposing bail as prosecuting authorities believe the charges against the two men are of a serious nature.

“She came home with work with Sibonga, the young girl, I then struck her with a hammer and suffocated the young child that was with her.”
