This comes after the body of a 41-year-old woman was found buried in a shallow grave at the shack of her 28-year-old boyfriend.

He is expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

Mazibuko visited the area on Monday afternoon, saying the rate of femicide in the province is of grave concern to the government.

"We encourage women to break the silence by reporting incidents of gender-based violence as they tend to escalate to femicide," said Mazibuko.

Mazibuko's department says in a statement the Safety Kiosk aims to bridge the distance between the community and the Lenasia South Police Station.

Peace Officers will be deployed at the kiosk and are authorised to perform citizen's arrest.

Patrollers will be tasked with responding to calls from the community.

Vlakfontein suspect 'confessed to killings at shebeen'

Gauteng Community Safety MEC Faith Mazibuko says the suspect confessed to killing his girlfriend, as well as burying the bodies of other people, in different locations in the Vlakfontein area, south of Johannesburg. "He has actually confessed there are other bodies hidden here and he will only speak to police so they can go identify the bodies.
