Vote of no confidence against Mahumapelo postponed
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
The Speaker of the North West Legislature, Sussana Dantjie, has postponed the motion of no confidence vote in Premier Supra Mahumapelo on the request of the Economic Freedom Fighters on Tuesday morning.
The EFF originally tabled the motion which was supposed to have been heard on Tuesday.
However, the red berets have been afforded the opportunity to first launch an urgent application in the North West High Court to allow for the motion against Mahumapelo to proceed via a secret ballot.

According to EFF provincial leader Betty Diale, members of the provincial legislature are not only entitled to vote according to their conscience, but a secret batllot will also prevent members being intimidated.
"The Members of the Legislature are entitled and should be granted to vote in accordance with their conscience. They should be protected, they should be allowed to vote in favour of a motion whenever they feel there is a reason to do so."
The parties involved have agreed to file the court papers by the latest on Wednesday.

The EFF and opposition parties are set to vote against Mahumapelo, but Diale adds that "members of the ANC in particular in the North West are threatened by their organisation not to vote in favour of the motion despite their conscience telling them that we need to remove corruption in our province".
Last month the Hawks seized documents relating to a multi-million rand tender during a raid on the office of the Premier.
