Vuwani on lockdown amid demarcation protests
Updated | By Bishop Baloyi
Vuwani in Limpopo is on lockdown with residents taking to the streets and blocking roads in protest against the town's incorporation into a new municipality.
According to the Pro-Makhado Group's Nsovo Sambo, residents will be approaching the High Court if the municipality refuses them permission to gather and discuss their grievances.
Sambo says that a planned meeting had to be cancelled on Sunday, after the municipality issued a letter describing the gathering as illegal.
"The mood in Vuwani is very tense with businesses and schools have been closed," Sambo says.
Residents are adamant that the town needs to be demarcated back to Makhado Municipality - an issue that has been dragging on for years.
