Vuwani school repairs to cost R400m
Updated | By Maidi Monareng
The Department of Education in Limpopo will have to fork out R400 million to repair damaged schools in Vuwani.
Schools that were torched in Vuwani have already set the Limpopo Department of Education back by about R40 million.
Over 20 schools were damaged during violent protests in the area earlier this year.
Spokesperson Naledzani Rasila says that an estimated R400 million would be needed to complete the work.
Rasila, however, says the schools that have been on the waiting list for repairs will not be ignored.
"The work of the department is continuing, but we have this setback which is a huge damage to us. We've got an infrastructure plan which we will still follow to see how best we can provide for our schools across the province. This does not mean that everything will now go to Vuwani," he said.
