Vuwani schools affected by march
Updated | By Suné du Toit
Residents of Vuwani are marching in Thohoyandou to hand over a memorandum at the Vhembe District Municipality's office in their demand to not be part of the newly formed municipality, LIM345.
Police spokesperson Motlafelo Mojapelo says they are monitoring the situation.
"The Vuwani area itself is quiet," says Mojapelo.
Mojapelo says they have not received any reports of violence in Thohoyandou.
"Our Public Order Policing members are monitoring the march and for now it's quiet, peaceful," says Mojapelo.
This march comes on the first day of schools of the third quarter.
Limpopo Department of Education's Naledzani Rasila says this is concerning that schools in Vuwani have been affected by the shutdown.
"Even if we lose a minute or a day, we ae concerned because our learners have to study, focussing on the final exams," says Rasila.
