Man set alight in Hillbrow mob justice incident
Police are investigating a case of murder, attempted murder and robbery after one suspect was set alight and his accomplice beaten up in Hillbrow on Monday.
Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubela says the community attacked the two suspects after they witnessed the two allegedly robbing a woman.
The community members then chased the two suspects and and beat them up.
"One was set alight and later died in hospital. The other one is still in hospital," says Makhubela.
Makhubela has condemned the attack by members of the public and urges the community to instead exercise their right to make a citizen's arrest.
"Because at the end they will be the ones responsible for the murder."
Nobody has been arrested and police are still investigating.
