Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
Warrants of arrest have been issued for gqom star Bongekile ‘Babes Wodumo’ Simelane and her partner Mandla ‘Mampintsha’ Maphumulo after they failed to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
The matter was last postponed pending the assessment by the Family and Marriage Society of SA (Famsa).
The pair have been in and out of court after Mampintsha was arrested following a video of him physically attacking Simelane went viral on social media.

The court previously ordered him to have no contact with Wodumo. However, since then Maphumulo released a video on Instagram of a song ‘Khona Ingane Lay'Ndlini’ featuring Babes, DJ Tira and Campmaster.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Kwa-Zulu-Natal Natasha Kara says the onus is now on the police to arrest the couple.
"The matter was set down for court today and both the accused and the complainant failed to appear. The presiding officer has authorised a warrant of arrest and it’s now the prerogative of the SAPS to effect that warrant."
