[WATCH] Centurion hotel floods as rain persists

Mabaso says he cannot rule out additional flooding in areas towards Mamelodi and Hamamndskraal.
The Centurion Lake Hotel has flooded following almost a week of persistent rain.

Tshwane EMS's Charles Mabaso says a number of places are experiencing flooding.
At the hotel, flooding started on Monday morning with reception having to be evacuated.
"Everybody is safe, but they have gone to the upper floors," says Mabaso, noting that guests can not leave the hotel yet.
He adds that there is flooding being experienced throughout Centurion, includes in informal settlements,
"Coming down the Apies rive, the low water bridge in Parktown also got flooded and has been monitored since yesterday," he says.

In addition, Johannesburg EMS are on standby for flooding in that city and warning of possible evacuations from low-lying areas.
City of Johannesburg EMS's Robert Mulaudzi says a 16-year-old girl has already had to be rescued after trying to cross a flooded self-made bridge in Ivory Park.
