The video has gone viral, prompting Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi to visit Lewisham Primary School in Krugersdorp on Thursday in to get a full report on the incident.

He says the incident happened five months ago.

“I had an opportunity to also meet with the parent and the child to hear their side of the story, including officials of the Department of Social Development. We have established that the learner has a medical condition and takes his medication during school hours, but on the day nobody administered the medication which affected the learner.”

He adds that they are also investigating who is responsible for recording the incident.
