[WATCH] Probe into viral video of traffic officer clinging to bonnet of car
Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
The Department of Community Safety in Gauteng has launched an investigation into a video showing what appears to be a traffic officer hanging onto the bonnet of a moving car.
The video has since gone viral.
The driver was apparently attempting to avoid a traffic fine from the officer, who clung onto the bonnet in an effort to stop the vehicle.
It's still unclear when and where the incident took place.
Gauteng community safety spokesperson Ofentse Morwane says they still need to probe the authenticity of the video.
“We can confirm, as the Department of Community Safety, that this video was brought to our attention this afternoon and we have therefore requested a full report from the traffic police where it will give us the facts.
“The report that the traffic police is going to give to us will say what has led to this person’s behaviour.
Morwane says the department expects a response on Tuesday.
