WATCH: Protesting MUT students torch campus
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Calm has been restored at Umlazi's Mangosuthu University of Technology after Thursday morning's chaotic protests.
eThekwini metro police moved in to restore order at the institution south of Durban.
This after reports that a car was torched and campus property vandalised during a student-led demonstration.
The metro police's Boysie Zungu says it's not yet clear what the protest was about.
Members of the Public Order Police Unit and other authorities are still on the scene.
"There was just a fire, the fire is attended and they are suspecting 20 students that were suspended.
"Our policemen are there and we will get more information. The fire department, SAPS and metro police are there. All is quiet now."
