WATCH: Troops arrive in Cape Town

The South African Defence Force (SANDF) arrived in Cape Town on Monday morning as part of the effort to battle crime in the area.

roops from 8 SAI Battalion arrive in Cape Town and commenced with Mission Ready Training in preparation to deploy on the Cape Flats in support ot the SA Police Service in an effort to curb ongoing gang related crime.

The South African Defence Force (SANDF) arrived in Cape Town on Monday morning as part of the effort to battle crime in the area.

President Cyril Ramaphosa decided to deploy the SANDF to the worst affected crime areas in the province.

Police Minister, Bheki Cele, announced the decision in Parliament on Thursday evening.

At least 55 people died due to unnatural causes during one weekend earlier this month.
