A Western Cape family woke up to an extra
guest in their home as a snake was found in their Christmas tree on Friday
Gerrie Heyns, a snake rescuer says he received a call from a family who lived on a farm out in Montagu.
“I received a call for a Snake in someone's home on a farm. They sent me two photos and I couldn't believe my eyes! Yes... Boomslang in their Christmas tree!
“It was 62km from Montagu and I told them to not bother it and keep eyes on the snake. It was rural farm area and it took me about 90min to get there.”
In a Facebook post Heyns says upon arrival the highly venomus Boomslang "Dispholidus typus" was still in the tree.
“When I got there the snake was still in the Christmas tree. Nevertheless, she got safely removed and released her Saturday.”
