We are saying no to a President who champions corruption: Save SA
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
If President Jacob Zuma remains in office, there will be no South Africa to save come the elections in 2019.
This according to Save South Africa chairperson Sipho Pityana.
Pityana, along with 100 civil society organisations, individuals and struggle stalwarts, launched a people's motion of no confidence in the President.
Some of those endorsing the motion include Rivonia trialist Ahmed Kathrada, Judge Zak Yacoob and Advocate Kessie Naidu.
Save South Africa convener Sipho Pityana says the country's democratic project is far more important than President Zuma and the ANC.
"We are saying no to a President who we see as a champion of corruption and sees nothing wrong with ongoing attempts at state capture, when he should be shocked and compelled to act in the national interest," says Pityana.

Pityana says without the people's support, the people's motion of no confidence will fail.
"Let our numbers show that this is not just a demand by a few, but an unmistakably large community of our people and our nation," says Pityana.
The online petition will be formally presented to parliament in the New Year.
