The wife of a former minister has been arrested and is being held in police cells in Pretoria.

Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi has confirmed the arrest of the wife of a former minister on allegations of assault and malicious damage to property.  

The former minister's wife was arrested on Friday afternoon.

“The suspect was arrested today on a warrant of arrest on allegations of assault and damage to property.

He adds more investigations are underway.

The suspect cannot be named.

“We cannot divulge the identity of identity of the suspect until she appears in court,” says Mulaudzi.

He adds: “The suspect is in custody as we speak and she will be appearing on Monday at the Hatfield Magistrates Court.”
