Winnie was an emancipator, says Reverend Jessie Jackson

American civil rights activist,
Reverend Jessie Jackson, has described struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela
as a freedom fighter who liberated the people of South Africa.
He was speaking outside Madikizela-Mandela’s Orlando West home.
Jackson says he is in the country to attend the funeral of a heroin.
“She went to jail, she faced exile, she was banned, she was attacked by the government and they tried to disrupt, discredit and destroy. Let’s not forget that her pain was alive."
Jackson says while her then-husband Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years, it was Winnie who kept the Mandela name alive.
