Wits medical student quaratined over coronavirus fears

Wits University cancelled clinical activities at its medical school on Friday after a student was placed under quarantine as a precautionary measure.

The student recently came into contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Wits spokesperson Shirona Patel says all other classes continue as normal.
"The student is being monitored closely and has not displayed any symptoms of COVID-19. The student has been screened and the test results are expected later today.
"However, as a precautionary measure, the faculty has cancelled the clinical activities scheduled for the student's class today."
South Africa's coronavirus count stood at 16 on Friday morning.
