Police in Mpumalanga are urging mothers to value the lives of their children.

Police spokesperson Selvy Mohlala says the call comes after a woman was charged for dumping her baby in a bin in Mbombela on Friday.
“An incident took place at Ackerville township where police were summoned and found a certain man who told them that he was busy in the rubbish bin when he noticed a strange plastic bag.”
Mohlala says the man then discovered a fetus in a shoebox.
“He then investigated further and was surprised to find a fetus wrapped inside a shoe box which was covered by the plastic bag.
“Police immediately probed the matter and managed to locate the 36-year-old suspect who is staying near the place where the discovery was made.”
Mohlala adds that woman is facing a charge of concealment of birth.
“This comes after a 36-year-old woman from Vosman is expected to appear in the Emalahleni Magistrate's Court Friday, facing a charge of concealment of birth, which is alleged to have occurred on Wednesday.”
