Gauteng MEC for Community Safety Faith Mazibuko has called for women traffic officers to be given the same respect as their male counterparts.
Mazibuko led a traffic law enforcement operation by women officers on the N14 towards Krugersdorp on Wednesday as part of the department’s Women’s Month program.

The operation focused on vehicle and driver fitness.
Mazibuko said it is not enough to just speak about empowering women.

"When we say we are empowering women lets also demonstrate it because people they think that women just sit in offices, yet women are also law enforcement officers.
"As part of visibility we are exposing them to some of the things that are happening on the road, but most of all motorists must also know we have women who are officers and theydeserve respect."
