Woolworths recalls chicken viennas sold in SA, Botswana

The retailer says this follows on information that the viennas may have been cross-contaminated with dairy traces.

Retailer Woolworths has recalled a batch of chicken viennas that are marked as set to expire on 27 May. 


The retailer says this follows on information that the viennas may have been cross-contaminated with dairy traces. 


In a statement, they say the affected products include their Smoked Chicken Viennas, Cocktail Chicken Viennas, and Halaal Smoked Chicken Viennas.

"While the cheese may not be obvious through taste or visible in the product, we are removing all the products from our shelves. Customers who have an allergy to cow’s milk may experience an adverse reaction to even trace amounts of milk protein. The Chicken Viennas do not have allergy warning labelling," they say. 


The affected products are sold in South Africa and Botswana, and customers who purchased them are urged to return them t their local Woolworths stores for a refund.
