World cannot sit idly by while Palestinians ‘massacred’ - Pandor

International Relations Minister Naledi Pandor has defended the government’s lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
Pandor spoke during an ANC solidarity conference with Cuba in Mpumalanga on Monday.
Delegates attending the conference are from various African nations, as well as Cuba, Russia and China.
She said the world could not sit idly by while thousands of Palestinians are being killed in Gaza.
"The intent of South Africa is merely to reinforce that a terrible harm and massacre are underway and the world cannot sit in front of its TV screens watching Al-Jazeera while a massacre occurs before our eyes. This is why South Africa chose to stand up and we thank all those countries who chose to stand up with us,”
South Africa and Israel squared off at the UN’s top court in The Hague last week, with a judgment expected soon.
One of South Africa's top legal minds, Advocate Tembeka Ngcukaitobi, accused the Israeli government of genocidal intent in the war against Hamas in Gaza.
Ngcukaitobi submitted video evidence to demonstrate what South Africa believes to be Israel's genocidal intent against Palestinians.
The evidence included a televised address by Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu, who declared war against Hamas following the deadly attack on October 7.
Ngcukaitobi said it was clear that soldiers on the ground in Gaza repeated genocidal utterances by the Israel leader.
"Israel’s special genocidal intent is rooted in the belief that. In fact, the enemy is not just the military wing of Hamas, or even Hamas in general, but is embedded in the fabric of Palestinian life in Gaza."
