‘You push me, I push back’ - Malema lays charges against Gordhan

The
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) opened a criminal case against Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan
at the Brooklyn Police Station in Pretoria on Tuesday.

The charges against Gordhan include money laundering, corruption, racketeering, fraud, contravention of Intelligence Act and, Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act, and perjury.
Speaking to supporters outside the police station, party leader Julius Malema said they have also opened a case against Gordhan’s daughter Anisha for allegedly benefitting from government contracts.
This comes 24 hours after Gordhan laid charges of defamation and crimen injuria against Malema at the same police station.
“We gave the evidence to the police about the crimes Pravin committed since 1999 until 2014,” Malema said.
Gordhan’s charges - crimen injuria, inciting public violence and defamation of character - relate to comments made by Malema last week outside the commission of inquiry into state capture.
Malema led a protest outside the venue while Gordhan was testifying and accused him of enabling state capture.

Malema also claimed Gordhan’s daughter benefited from multimillion-rand tenders from several government departments.
On Tuesday, Malema says Anisha was “fronting” for her father when she was working for Investec.
“One of the chargers we opened for Pravin’s daughter, is fronting for the father because fronting is fronting is a crime in South Africa. All of this must be investigated by the law inforcement.”
Godhan has also indicated that he will file a complaint against Malema at the Equality Court.
Malema says their spat with Gordhan should not be seen as a fight against Indian people in general.
