Youth Day: The growing problem of unemployed graduates
Updated | By Neo Motloung & Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
South Africa commemorates Youth Day on Saturday as many of the country’s young people struggling to find work despite being in possession of a tertiary qualification.
This year's commemoration marks 42 years since the student uprisings in Soweto in 1976.
Hundreds of students took to the streets to protest against the use of Afrikaans as a medium of instruction.
Unemployment for South Africans aged 15 to 24 currently stands at a staggering 32.4%.
Jacaranda FM News spoke to three young graduates, Bongiwe Mahlangu, Moshasho Seanego and Rudzani Geraldine Mnyuku, who are struggling to find employment.
